Fish In a Tree
This week we started our Global Read Aloud project. We will be reading a novel called Fish In a Tree. There are many other classes around the world reading the same book. As a class, we are going to try to connect with them, and share our thoughts.
As you were listening to the first four chapters today, what signals were going off in your head? What were you thinking about? We you relating, connecting, predicting or even asking questions? Please share!
Today we started Fish In A Tree, by Lynda Mullaly Hunt. One of the signals that went of in my head was I wondered why was everyone was being so mean! For example, in the part we read everyone was calling her names like freak when she was sent to the principals office for giving her teacher an inappropriate card.
ReplyDeleteToday we started reading Fish in a tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt.one of the signals that went off in my head was how come she got past all the grades without knowing how to read? Also how come everybody was laughing at her? For example when the teacher told her to come outside the class laughed.

When Mrs. Persson was reading it I could tell that Ally was upset and embarrassed because everyone was probably ahead of her in her class .

Aly got in trouble because the card was meant for someone who lost a friend or relative because they died. I thought the teacher didn't read it out loud, because it was personal, but she really didn't read it out loud, because it was sad. I would have actually read the inside of the card first, before giving it to my teacher but I think Aly didn't read it, because she couldn't.

One of the signals that went off in my head is when Ally drew a tornado, it popped in my head that over the summer there was a tornado at the water front! I think that Ally drew that tornado because she was trying to get the teacher mad and she ended up going to the office at the school.

In this book, the boy wouldn't stop playing tricks on his family. He is like Aly because she is also getting into trouble, like the boy is. The name of the books also reminds me of my dad, because he loves to fish, but I don't think the book will really be about fishing. I think she called the book this, because that is what Aly feels hopeless, like a fish in a tree.

ReplyDeleteToday we started to read Fish in a tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt. One of the signals that went off in my head was why did Allie got her teacher a sympathy card ? After, I learned that she accidentally bought the card, because she didn't know how to read it. She bought her that card, because her teacher was having a baby, and she really liked the yellow flowers. She was actually trying to do something nice, and it turned out wrong. I felt really bad for her, when that happened.
ReplyDeleteToday my class started fish in a tree by Lynda Mulally Hunt.i really feel with Ally because she struggles on reading and I get neurvus in math. So I now how she felt when she tried to read.

In Judy Moody, Judy doesn't want to go to school because she didn't want summer to be over. In fish in a tree, Ally didn't want to go to school because she didn't want people to make fun of her because she didn't know how to read. I am really enjoying this book so far, because it is interesting, and I think lots of people can related to it.
ReplyDeleteToday we started Fish In a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt! One of the signals that popped into my head is, in the book it said that ally, (one of the main characters)drew a tornado on her desk and i drew one on the sticky note that Mrs. Persson gave us. I wanted to know what it looked like. I think she drew the tornado because she was frustrated. I can't wait to read more of this book, because I am really enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteToday we started reading Fish In A Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt. One of the signals that went of in my head was an I wonder question. I wonder why she was so scared to write? I think that if she doesn't know how to read, she probably has difficulty writing as well. I think that she should practice starting to read more and write to help her in class.
