Celebrating 35 Years!

This years Terry Fox Run, marks 35 years of working together as proud Canadians to fight against a disease that touches everyone's lives. Although the Willow hasn't yet held their annual run, students are as aware as always, of the impact Terry Fox had, and continues to make today. Terry Fox will always be considered a hero, for the sacrifices he made as he ran in his Marathon of Hope. Even though Terry is no longer with us, he continues to inspire Canadians to fight cancer until a cure is found. 

What characteristics define a hero? Are heroes always in the spotlight? Who is special in your life, that you would consider a hero?

    I consider my dad a hero because he works ALL THE TIME!!! Just to make money for the family and we get to see him every night! (i am happy about that!) That is why i consider MY dad a hero!!!

      Wow your dad is great. It must be hard with a dad that works all day. :) What special things do you and your dad do, when he is not at work?

    My hero is my aunt dean because shes not easily discouraged. She does not go out much because she has cancer. Nothing can get her down. She's unstoppable.

    I think my brother is a hero because he has the characteristics of a hero he has courage and integrity. For example I was doing a race I was about to stop running and he gave me tips and pushed me and I ended up winning the race.

    My hero is my dad because he gives me tons of courage to try. For example, when I was on my baseball rep tryout, he kept telling me not to worry, if I made the team or not, because I was still going to be playing baseball no matter what! That made me feel stronger and more confident. I ended up making the rep team too!

    My mom's a hero because she makes sure i'm fed and i'm warm at night. My dad is also a hero because sometimes when i,m sick he rubs my belly. Heroes are people who respect and encourage others. They also help others to make sure they are taken care of.

    My papa is my hero because he works a lot and he gives his love to me. I really really love my papa, he dose a lot of work around the house and he has a farm. My papa is a hero because he always makes sure everyone is taken care of. He makes sure to spend time with me by riding our atv's, picking apples or coming to see me play hockey.

    My hero is my great grandpa because he had cancer in his throat but he still lived till 98 years old. Nothing could bring him down. I think a hero is a person who always keeps trying, and looking on the bright side, even when things aren't great.

    My hero is no ordinary hero. He is a hockey hero Sidney Crosby. Wayne Gretzky once said that "if anybody could beat his scoring record that it would be him before he even got in the NHL". He is my hero because he has won many gold medals for Canada and he always tries his very best.

    My hero is my papa because he took me to my first hockey game and I got a Colts hat. I think he is a hero because even though he doesn't have any arms, he still plays hockey, by moving the puck with his feet. He inspires me to play hockey, and I play centre position.

    I consider my great great grandpa as a hero he fought in world war 1! He was a tank commander! He was knighted by the queen! He died of cancer after the war ;(. He made sure to protect our country. That is why I consider him a hero.

    My hero is my dad because he is special and a person that does the right thing. For example, he always makes sure to spend time with me and my brother even if he is tired after work. I think people that do the right thing should always consider themselves a hero to others. :)

    I do not know who I would consider a hero, but I know that characteristics of a hero. A hero is someone who is honest, responsible, kind and always makes sure to think of others before themselves. I think Terry Fox was good at that because he has saved a lot of people by raising so much money in finding a cure for cancer.

    My grandpa John, he died of lung cancer stage 4 not curable he died when i was 6
    and my mom was 26. He is my hero because even though he would work at Honda for long hours, he still was able to make sure that he spent time with us, and I was happy.

    My Nana had brain cancer for two months it was very severe and she died when i was 8. that is why my Nana is my hero, because she has gone through lots of things. every time the terry fox run day i do it for my Nana .

    I will chose Suki.

    Suki is really shy and quiet when she gets nerves she has blocks that her grandpa gave to her so she can fiddle. Suki is from Japan she misses Japan because her family is there. She doesn't talk a lot in the story.
